Now Accepting Most Insurance Claims
for Auto Accident and Worker Compensation Injuries

What better place to nurture and heal an injury than our relaxing, healing oasis?

We have wanted to offer insurance-covered treatments for some time, and have taken a few cases where clients have been reimbursed for claims. We are now connected with a contractor who can get these claims paid directly through insurance.

Most doctors and physical therapists have accepted alternative care as a valid option, and are more likely than ever to prescribe acupuncture and massage as complimentary treatments to their therapy plans.

If you have an Auto or Worker Comp Injury, give us a call, and we will review your case to see if we can take your claim, fully paid!

Reiki
by Meredith Schneider, LMT

Meredith Schneider, LMT
Massage, Reiki, Reflexology
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning "Universal Life Energy", the divine life giving force which flows through all that is alive. It is said Reiki energy comes from the "GodForce" and is an extremely powerful healing energy. Reiki helps to harmonize the mind, body, and spirit.

A Reiki treatment consists of a short consultation with your therapist and a relaxing experience. You will relax on a comfortable massage table fully clothed while the therapist channels the universal life force energy and gently holds his/her hands on or above your body. In a treatment, different hand positions are used to bring balance and healing to the whole body which includes the endocrine system and the chakras. The relationship between these two systems, one based in the physical body and one in the etheric body, is understood to be interconnected acting as a conveyor of energy to each other.

Reiki is an effective healing method ideal for treating all ages and conditions and complimentary to medical treatments and general wellness. Reiki can be used for treating many ailments such as reducing stress, headaches, anxiety, depression, menstrual problems, aches and pains and many more. It can also be beneficial to promote natural self healing, creativity, aids in meditation and positive thinking, and helps to release blocked and suppressed feelings.

I invite you to come experience this amazing modality with me for 30% off durning the month of February.

Acupuncture for Pain Management
Stefanie Pitthan, LAc, LMT

Stefanie Pitthan, LAc, LMT
Acupuncture, Massage
There are an increasing amount of studies of how Acupuncture decreases the sensation of pain. Multiple studies using MRI’s, are being used to watch what happens in the brain when a needle is placed in a point, usually around the ankles. In Chinese Medicine, the further away the point from an area of the pain the more powerful the effect is on a local area.

There are two general mechanisms in which Acupuncture reduces pain;

1. "Acupuncture increase(s)the binding availability of mu-opoid receptors (MOR) in regions of the brain that process and dampen pain signals - specifically the cingulate, insula, caudate, thalamus and amygdala." (http://www.physorg.com/news169120620.html)

2. "Acupuncture-induced modulation of the sensory encoding of the painful stimulus." (http://www.physorg.com/news/2010-11-acupuncture-brain-perception-pain.html)

In Other words: In Chinese Medicine we often use the words regulating and balancing. Studies show that Acupuncture can reduce the perception of pain in the brain and also help unbind and open up the receptors in the brain to be able to process pain better. Single use sterile needles are used on individual points along "Meridian", energetic Pathways in the Body. Acupuncture is based on the idea that the body is smart and can heal itself, that by stimulating points, we are sending messages to the body to restore homeostasis. Patterns of ill health and lack of flow throughout the body can be changed and the proper flow can be restored.

What to expect during the course of treatment? It can realistically take 6-12 treatments to find relief. If a pattern of pain has been ingrained over a long period of time, it may take time to unlock and heal the source of pain. But, what people do often notice is a subtle improvement of their health and a reduction of Stress. Simply said, on a minute level, the literal stress on a cell is what causes breakdown and can lead to disease. In this regard, Acupuncture is a powerful tool along with Massage. It does take some commitment and patience on the part of the Patient. In China, it is not uncommon to receive Acupuncture every day until the issue has been resolved. In our Western Culture this is not often feasible so the healing process may take longer with a weekly treatment. But with patience the solution is always available. It may take your practitioner some time to figure out and sort through the symptoms to find the correct treatment that you need. Acupuncture may not be a quick fix but the answer to supporting your health and healing process.

Acupuncture is available as an add on to your massage at Sensorielle Spa. Try a simple 45 minute Acupucture session in conjunction with a Massage to get a taste of the potential of what Chinese Medicine can do for you.

H2T Astrology for the month of February 2011

Get ready for some drastic changes - the kind that kick you in the butt in a good way. With the Sun in Aquarius we all get an extra jolt that helps us make it through the cold winter months. Changes keep occurring as Saturn turns retrograde in Libra, Chiron moves into Pisces, Venus heads into Capricorn - all before the 9th of February. On the 19th the Sun moves into Pisces and on the 21st and 23rd Mercury and Mars join the pool party. Translated: Expect the first of the month to bring revolutionary surprises in healing your relationships at a deep level. Keep a grounded stance as the fires of the sun hit the water of the ocean - this will bring the unconscious realm to the surface. Take long hot baths and yoga retreats. Breathe like a fish. Swim fast and strong with the flow!

Start the New Year out right - Get an astrology reading for yourself. See where you are going and what will work towards your best interests.
