Craniosacral Therapy, arcana ad directus (Hidden Knowledge Set Straight)
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle bodywork technique that facilitates the release of physical, mental and emotional tension by affecting the energetic, nervous and skeletal systems of the body in a profound, yet subtle way. It is in fact a full-body system of healing, yet the boney/nervous systems are typically used as an initial diagnostic gateway into the health of the other systems of the body.
Through listening to and interfacing with the delicate movements of the craniosacral rhythm, which is generated by the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid within the membranes surrounding our brain and spinal cord, the practitioner finds the meeting place between the energetic systems of the
body and its physical structures.
ELECTROMAGNETIC (EM) FIELDS AND THE LIFE-FORCE
Every living thing emits an EM field. This field is in fact our life-force, manifesting itself energetically. While mainstream science and Western allopathic medicine do not acknowledge this correlation as fact, viewing it only as one of many suspect hypotheses to explain away 'unexplained' phenomena, every month there are more and more scientific studies that cannot prove this 'hypothesis' wrong. We can't see the entire spectrum of radiation and electromagnetic energy, as is obvious with things like infrared light, which we use thermal imagers to see. The same goes for the electromagnetic energy the body emits, it is generally not within our range of seeing ability, but we CAN feel it, if we slow down enough. Since we all have our own EM field, I have come to the conclusion that each of us can experience and feel this field, both as client and as practitioner. I am of the belief that this is in the grasp of anyone and everyone, if only we were all to take a break from the neurotic rat-race we live in and become more coherent with the forces of Nature, as is our birthright.....

Back to Basics is the theme for December 2009. A full moon on December 1-2nd in Gemini reminds us that there are always two sides to every situation, and that we do have choices. Combine this energy with that of Venus who just moved into Sagittarius until December 25th, along with the first 20 days of the month when all planets are in direct motion (no planets retrograde) � and we can all breathe for a while. Thank the Goddess!
Translated to your life - Let this month be a time when and where you regain your balance, both internally and externally. Get clear on what YOUR (not your neighbors) problems or tasks are and consider a game plan to accomplish those things that you want to change for yourself. Let the beautiful energies of Venus, released while she travels through Sagittarius, free your inner beauty and resonance. With all planets on a forward moving course, this is your chance to ride the waves, smoothly. The one thing you have to keep in mind is how can you take care of yourself and in doing so, take care of others - and make those changes!
Think about what freedom - aka. Change, looks, feels, smells, tastes and sounds like for you! Not sure how to get there - take this month to get back to basics, like eating well, taking care of your skin, getting the rest you need, let yourself be pampered with massage, acutonics, a facial - you have earned all of this Tender Loving Self-Care! 2010 Changes
We believe change is positive and necessary to keep moving forward. It helps energy to flow, and keeps us fresh in our perspectives. There is stability in structure and consistency, and there is a balance in keeping that consistency while being open to flow with the times. To greet the incoming new year, we will be making some changes to our structure, menu & membership options.
Membership Options
- We have added another option to our memberships for those of you who like the premium treatments, and have enhanced the membership benefits. Memberships are charged automatically to your credit card monthly. Here are our the changes, which are effective immediately.

Pay-What-You-Can - In 2009, Sensorielle explored the idea of becoming a "pay-what-you-can" day spa for all services. We have enjoyed this experience and love giving back to our community. Due to valuable feedback from you, our clients, and an in depth review of our structure, we are refining our system beginning January 1, 2010. We will continue "pay-what-you-can" on Tuesday and Thursday for specific services which include our 30 or 60 minute holistic and deep massage, thai massage, sensorielle facial, acupuncture, reflexology, craniosacral and reiki. If you are a PWYC client already on a treatment plan, we will continue to see you on your regular day. New PWYC clients will only be accepted on our Tuesday/Thursday schedule. Enhancements, ayurveda, and other treatments with a high product cost are excluded from PWYC, however we believe you will find just as much benefit from our luxurious basic treatments.
Menu changes - We have made some changes to our menu, effective immediately except where noted. Please understand that some of our pricing was not in line with the rest of the menu, so some changes are intended to make our pricing more balanced and fair. We hope that our price reductions will be exciting to you and that our increases will be minimal enough not to make much difference.
- The Price of our Enzyme is reduced to $21 (was $36)
- We added a Master Harmonizing facial for $156
- The price of our Basic Harmonizing facial is reduced to $138 (was $156)

- We will remove the Shirodhara Abhayanga option, and continue with our Abhayanga (with or without steam), shirodhara, body wrap, balancing facial and Shirodhara Samadhi treatments. All Ayurvedic treatments will now begin with the tibetan balancing bowl (a foot treatment using a bowl with three metals to balance the dosha).
- The Price of our Shirodhara Samadhi will change to $297 (a $351 value) - was $240, effective January 1
Tipping policy - When we went to a pay-what-you-can structure, we decided to let go of our non-tipping policy. While this is not a new change, we wanted to alleviate confusion and clarify the policy. We are no longer a "non-tipping" facility due to client feedback. Some clients liked not feeling pressured to tip, and some clients wished to leave a tip as a token of their appreciation but were not able to. We feel when clients are told they are not allowed to tip, this blocks energy flow even though they generally understood the reason behind our philosophy. Therapists were not allowed even to accept cash tips which often created confusion and negative feelings with therapists and clients alike.
The idea behind our non-tipping philosophy was to be viewed as the wellness center we strive to create rather than just a service facility. You wouldn't normally expect to tip a doctor, nurse, naturopath, or homeopath, etc. However after practicing this idea, and receiving feedback, we realize that these practitioners usually make a much higher wage, and we are indeed a luxury spa that includes holistic wellness services. Clients are permitted to leave a cash tip if they would like to. At this time, we cannot accept tips on credit cards.
We wish to emphasize that all clients are welcome to come in for services and not feel obligated to leave a tip. Therapists are not expecting tips. It is a nice surprise bonus when they receive one. We absolutely want to honor our clients who enjoy the non-tipping atmosphere. Please know you are not expected to start tipping if you are use to paying only for your services. We leave it up to you to decide what feels right, with absolutely no judgement or obligation on our end.
